Upon the invitation of the Kunming Institute of Zoology (KIZ), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS), led a delegation comprising of Prof. Vincent C.K. Cheung, Prof. Eugene Ponomarev, Prof. John Rudd, Prof. Zhao Hui and 14 postgraduate students of the School to participate in the Symposium on Animal Models and Human Disease Mechanisms cum Postgraduate Research Day 2016 from 18 to 21 August 2016. The event was hosted by the Key Laboratory of Animal Models and Human Disease Mechanisms (AMHD), under KIZ, CAS.
During the Symposium, Prof. Vincent Cheung and Prof. Eugene Ponomarev served as keynote speakers and shared their latest research work with all the participants. On the other hand, our postgraduate students actively participated in the Postgraduate Research Day 2016, and competed prizes in the oral and poster presentation sessions with students from other participating institutions. With their exceptional performance, 2 of our students won prizes for their oral presentations while 6 of them won prizes in the session of poster presentations.
In fact, since the establishment of the KIZ-CUHK Joint Laboratory of Bioresources and Molecular Research in Common Diseases, our School has been in a close connection with KIZ with respect to academic research (see previous academic exchange activities: July 2010, June and August 2012, November to early December 2012) and student exchanges (see previous student exchange activities: August 2013, December 2015).
