The School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) formed a four-person delegation to attend the "1st Joint Symposium of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The University of Hong Kong on Stem Cell and Cancer Research", which was organized by the Clinical Stem Cell Research Center, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) School of Medicine-affiliated Renji Hospital in Shanghai on 16 December 2018.

The Joint Symposium focused on academic exchange in the research areas of prostate, gastrointestinal, and neurological cancers among the speakers and participants from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The University of Hong Kong. The SBS delegation comprised Prof. Andrew M. L. Chan, Prof. Franky L. Chan, Prof. Chen Yangchao and Prof. Alfred S. L. Cheng. All of them were invited to give a talk to share their research findings and insights in the related areas in various presentation sessions. After the presentation sessions, the participating investigators of the three universities further conducted a closed-door meeting for in-depth discussion on their related research projects.
