A group of delegates from the University of Edinburgh (UE), U.K. visited the School of Biomedical Sciences on 9 February 2012. The delegates included Sir Ian Wilmut, Chairman of the Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine, Prof. Bruce Whitelaw, Head of Developmental Biology Division, the Roslin Institute at UE, Dr. Nini Yang, Manager, the China Office at UE, Dr. Gordon McLean, Manager, Ms. Mindy Quigley and Mr. Yu Bai Michael of MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine at UE (MRC CRM).
During the visit, the delegates met with Prof. Chan Wai-Yee, Director of School of Biomedical Sciences, Prof. Kenneth K.H. Lee, Chief and Prof. Li Gang, Deputy Chief of the Stem Cell and Regeneration Program as well as its members to explore opportunities for academic and research collaborations in future, particularly in the field of regenerative medicine. The delegates were also guided to visit our new animal holding facilities at the Lo Kwee-Seong Integrated Biomedical Sciences Building.
This visit not only made a good start for our School and the various units at UE in establishing closer academic connections, but also showcased the continued effort in extending our scholarly networks to overseas institutions that are renowned in different fields of biomedical sciences.
