Similar to previous years, our School was invited again by the Kunming Institute of Zoology (KIZ), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), to participate in the Postgraduate Research Day 2017, which was hosted by the Key Laboratory of Animal Models and Human Disease Mechanisms (AMHD). Prof. Woody W.Y. Chan, Associate Director (Graduate Education) of our School and Prof. Zhao Hui, Associate Director of KIZ-CUHK Joint Laboratory of Bioresources and Molecular Research in Common Diseases, led a delegation comprising of Prof. Vincent C.K. Cheung, Prof. Eugene Ponomarev, Prof. Wan Chao and Prof. Yao Xiaoqiang to take part in the Event from 15 to 17 August 2017.
In the Event, Prof. Woody W.Y. Chan delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS), and Prof. Yao Xiaoqiang presented a keynote talk titled “Mechanosensitive TRP Channels”. After the Event, the SBS delegation met with Prof. Yao Yonggang, KIZ Director, and other KIZ Principal Investigators to exchange the latest research directions and progress, as well as to discuss the potential collaborations between the two institutions.
Our School has indeed developed a close relationship with KIZ since the establishment of the KIZ-CUHK Joint Laboratory of Bioresources and Molecular Research in Common Diseases, with respect to academic research (see previous academic exchange activities: July 2010, June and August 2012, November to early December 2012) and student exchanges (see previous student exchange activities: August 2013, November 2015, August 2016 and November 2016).
