I am Amy, I draw comics, and I am learning to do research.

Before I enrolled in the M-Phil program, I created an ethnography-inspired graphic novel titled Almost Human, a romantic comedy featuring an intersex person and a vampire under the pen name @inglorionamy. As an attempt to make intersexuality visible through the popular medium of Slash/ Boy’s Love (BL), its plot was heavily supported by academic research on the current situation of intersex people and creatively conveyed queer theoretical arguments. An unexpected result was that I became interested in contributing to the understanding of intersexuality in Hong Kong through anthropology.

My research interest included Intersex and Non-binary bodies, Medicalization, Queer studies, Pornography, Obscenity laws, Fandom and Doujin culture, and will grow over time.
