Project Objectives
Multidisciplinary e-learning Platform for Medication Safety (MELODY) is designed to meet the following goals and objectives:
To improve and increase awareness of medication safety in students of the Faculty of Medicine for the goal of healthy community in Hong Kong;
To develop the first cross-disciplinary e-teaching platform in the Faculty of Medicine;
To enhance multi-disciplinary collaborations and learning through this teaching platforms for staffs and students;
To encourage the use of e-learning platform in teaching medicine curriculum;
To utilize simulations and animations of various case scenarios on medication safety from different perspectives (medicine, nursing and pharmacy); and
To provide the first-hand observations for students to identify medication errors during clinical clerkship thus giving the teaching hospitals an untapped and invaluable resource for spotting and preventing medication errors.

Arrangements for evaluation of project deliverables/outcomes
The expected outcomes of MELODY include:
Documentation of real-world medication errors (measured by the group assignments)
Changes of students’ attitudes towards medication safety (measured by safety attitudes questionnaire with a retrospective pre-post design)
Student satisfaction (measured by course evaluation)
Means for disseminating project deliverables/outcomes
The project deliverables/outcomes will be disseminated:
Local: Conferences or forum organized by the Faculty of Medicine or university
Regional: conferences organized by the Asian Association of Pharmacy Schools (AAPS) and Asian Pacific Medical Education Conference
International: Medical Education Conference
