Project Objectives
The objectives are to upgrade the existing teaching web (The Student Learning Outcome [SLO] Mapping Platform, SMP-I) into SMP-II in alignment with the University Teaching and Learning Strategy so that student-teacher communication and assessment of student’s academic performance can be facilitated.
Key deliverables expected and timelines for completion
The key deliverable will be the SMP-II made up of the following additional key components:
The Assessment Generator: engineered to help teachers to prepare examination papers according to pre-set distribution of SLO items and various attributes
The Performance Analyzer: programmed to prepare SLO and attribute-based multi-dimensional evaluation of students’ performance at the Formative and Summative Assessment both for individual students and for the whole class
The Discussion Platform: for students to post feedbacks and queries with user-friendly interphase for teachers to be alerted of newly posted student’s queries and to post their reply. User-friendliness is the key to keep it functional for maintaining effective student-teacher communication
The software will be developed during the first year. In the second year, the SMP-II will be launched at the Orthopaedic Module of the medical curriculum. In the third year, other teaching programs will be invited to utilize the system.
Arrangements for evaluation of project deliverables/outcomes
Evaluation will be accomplished with:
Comparison of Summative Assessment results of classes conducted before and after implementation of the system.
Feedback questionnaire for the users, namely the teachers and students on its effectiveness and acceptance.
Means for disseminating project deliverables/outcomes
An instructional workshop: information on how the system is developed and how to run the system will be disseminated through campus-wide invitation to all interesting members of the University.
An experience-sharing seminar on the system will be held.
Conferences on Teaching & Learning: the system and its use will be presented at various conferences including the University Teaching and Learning Innovation EXPO.
