Project Objectives

The “Into-the-Future” Lecture Series, a credit-bearing elective course for both business and non-business students, aim at building a platform for visionary leaders of various disciplines to share their domain-specific visions and predictions with young talents at CUHK who aspire to shape the future of China and Hong Kong.

Description of process, outcomes or deliverables

In phase I of the project, the process included two parallel components. First, the Principal Supervisor identified and communicated with potential guest speakers. Second, based upon the guests’ respective industries and areas of expertise, research pertaining to background information and market insights was developed to facilitate the communication between the Principal Supervisor and guest speakers. The initial contacts with guest speakers aimed to narrow down the scope of discussion and identify specific topics for further development. Four potential speakers were contacted and two research reports were partially completed by two student helpers. In phase II, elective course will be offered with the videos of the lecture series to be placed on e-learning platforms.

Evaluation

The progress of the project is delayed mainly due to the difficulty in recruiting research assistant/ interviewers. The diversity in the research topics poses great difficulty in recruiting the right personnel. The Principal Supervisor turned to student helpers as research assistants. Two volunteered and worked on two topics.

Dissemination, diffusion and impact

Videos of lecture series will be accessible from the Faculty website, social media and other e-learning platforms.
