Project Objectives
This project is to support the quality enhancement of the Chinese Language Core Requirements in the new 4-year normative curriculum. Two objectives can be achieved: (1) to review and re-organize the teaching materials and references, thereby enriching the language syllabus with a cultural dimension; and (2) to support “internal” and “external” academic activities to promote Chinese teaching and learning in tertiary education, thereby raising the literary level and cultural awareness of our students with all new experience and extending the network of the program in the territory and in the Greater China Region. The impacts of the project should be long-lasting. It is hoped that the outcomes not only benefit the CUHK students and teaching staff of our team, but also the colleagues in other local institutions.

Teachers at the Department of Chinese Language and Literature collaborated with representatives and front-line teachers of local universities and tertiary institutions to share their experiences on university Chinese teaching at the 3rd forum on University Chinese held on 29 April 2016.
Sustainable impact of the project:
“Literary CUHK” could raise the literary level and cultural awareness of our students with all new experience. Besides, a database has been developed to generate a collection of papers on university Chinese teaching. These teaching materials are collected as the inspiration for future reference; and also as a promotion of Chinese teaching and learning in tertiary education. This action can extend the network of the program in the territory and even in the Greater China Region.
