VC visits University of Cambridge to strengthen ties
CUHK Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rocky S. Tuan paid a visit to the University of Cambridge (Cambridge), UK in May 2019. With the aims of reaffirming ties and exploring new collaborative opportunities, Prof. Tuan met with Prof. EilÃs Ferran, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Institutional and International Relations; Prof. David Cardwell, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Strategy and Planning; Prof. David Ibbetson, President of Clare Hall; Sir Gregory Winter, Master of Trinity College; and other senior representatives from the School of Arts and Humanities, School of Clinical Medicine, Centre for Existential Risk, Department of Pathology, and MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology.
While at Clare Hall, a graduate college for advanced study, Prof. Tuan met with Prof. WU Ka Ming of the Department of Cultural and Religious Studies who is currently a visiting fellow there. Since 2006, CUHK and Clare Hall have partnered in a visiting fellowship programme with a view to promoting and developing research collaborations. Eight CUHK faculty members have been supported to visit Clare Hall so far.
The links between CUHK and Cambridge date back to the late 1990s. There have been multi-faceted collaborations between the two universities, including the Cambridge-CUHK Joint Laboratory for Bilingualism, joint autism research, and cooperation in CUHK’s Global Physician-Leadership Stream of the MBChB Programme, in addition to the collaboration with Clare Hall.
