Call for Applications: St. Gallen Symposium Global Leadership Challenge & Global Essay Competition

The 52nd St. Gallen Symposium hosted by the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland is now calling for applications for its Global Leadership Challenge and Global Essay Competition. Winners will be offered to attend the St. Gallen Symposium in Switzerland as Leaders of Tomorrow with expenses for travel and accommodation fully covered.

 


Global Leadership Challenge (GLC) 2022 (Deadline: 24 October 2022)

Aim Global Leadership Challenge is a joint initiative of the St. Gallen Symposium and the University of Oxford to connect young leaders across boundaries to address sustainable development goals (SDGs) and enable them to become responsible leaders in their local contexts.

 

The core theme for GLC 2022 is ‘A New Generational Contract’ focusing on four SDG challenges:

  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being
  • SDG 4: Quality Education
  • SDG 5: Gender Equality
  • SDG 13: Climate Action
Date 8–12 December 2022
Eligibility
  • Student currently enrolled in a Masters or a PhD programme or young professional aged between 21-30 years
  • Demonstrating commitment to responsible leadership through extra-curricular activities and/or work experience
  • Committed to investing around five half-days in GLC
  • Applications from around the world and from all academic disciplines are welcome
Highlights
  • The winning team with the most outstanding project idea will be offered to attend the St. Gallen Symposium as Leaders of Tomorrow with expenses for travel and accommodation fully covered.
  • Participants can apply for further mentoring in two tracks: “entrepreneurship” with EWOR Education, and grow as future leaders with the Oxford Character Project at the University of Oxford
  • All active participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement from the University of Oxford and the St. Gallen Symposium

St. Gallen Global Essay Competition (Deadline: 1 February 2023)

Aim St. Gallen Global Essay Competition is a global student essay competition, offering students who study at graduate or postgraduate level around the world the opportunity to apply for participation at the St. Gallen Symposium.

 

The annual St. Gallen Symposium is the world’s leading initiative for cross-generational dialogue on the most pressing issues of our time. Participants can engage with 300 of the society’s brightest young minds and join the debate with 600 senior leaders worldwide.

Date 4–5 May 2023
Eligibility
  • Enrolled in a graduate or postgraduate programme (master level or higher) in any field of study at a regular university
  • Born in 1993 or later
Award
  • 100 best submissions will qualify as Leaders of Tomorrow and get the unique opportunity to participate at the St. Gallen Symposium in an all-expenses covered trip to Switzerland
  • A prize money of CHF 20,000 will also be shared amongst the best three winner
Essay Submission Max. 2,100 words essay on the theme ‘A New Generational Contract’ addressing one of the following two questions:

 

A)   What’s the best legacy your generation has inherited from those before you? And how can we preserve it?

B)   What’s the worst legacy your generation has inherited from those before you? And how can we replace it?
