Class Arrangements and Course Add/Drop, 1st term 2022-23 |

Dear Students, |

The first teaching day of 1st term 2022-23 will begin on 5 September 2022. Please pay attention to the following pertaining to class arrangements and course add/drop of this academic term. |
||||
1. |
First Term Class Arrangements |
|||
|
As announced by the University on 13 May 2022, the default mode of delivery of teaching and learning will be in person and on campus for all undergraduate students in 1st term 2022-23. |
|||
2. |
Entry to Campus |
|||
Students should present their CU Link Card for e-validation at campus entry points in order to enter the campus. For new students who have completed student registration but have NOT yet received/collected their CU Link Card, they need to present the CUSIS record showing “ü” in vaccination record (refer to this webpage for sample screenshot) when entering the campus. All students MUST use CU Link Card to enter the campus with effect from 21 September 2022. Any students without the CU Link Card should refer to the webpage of CU Link Card Centre (https://culink.cuhk.edu.hk) on card collection arrangement and get their cards accordingly. |

3. |
Precautionary Measures |
|||
|
Stringent precautionary measures such as social distancing and wearing of mask will continue to be enforced on campus. Suitable classrooms have been assigned for all class activities with due consideration of social distancing (the room capacity is used up to 85%). Automatic infrared thermometers are installed for use at specific locations in each of the teaching buildings for students / staff to check their body temperature whenever necessary. Please also be reminded once again to observe the following guidelines when attending classes / examinations / activities on campus: |

Course Add/Drop |
|||
|

a. |
Application for Exceeding Term Course Load |
|||
|
Application for exceeding term course load in 1st term 2022-23 (for update of term course load for course add/drop period) will close on 5 September 2022 (11:59 p.m. HKT). Late application will NOT be accepted. Please allow time for your Major Department to consider the applications and results will be released ONLY on CUSIS from 9 September 2022 or after. Please contact RES by email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) if the result has NOT been released on CUSIS by 12:00 noon HKT on 13 September 2022. |

b. |
CUSIS Course Add/Drop (13-19 September 2022) |
|||
|
|
Students should add/drop courses under CUSIS from 13 September 2022 (8:30 p.m. Tuesday) to 19 September 2022 (8:30 p.m. Monday) except for courses with "add/drop consent". To free up quotas for other students, students should DROP the courses as soon as possible and by 8:30 p.m. on 19 September 2022 if they no longer intend to register for the course. Departments may NOT allow any drop of the courses during 20-23 September and 26 September 2022 unless for special reasons. Students who are on wait list will enroll automatically whenever the quota is increased, or when the quota is freed up by other students. It is students' responsibility to check their updated course enrolment under “View My Classes” on a daily basis. |

Special Course Add/Drop at Department (20-23 September and 26 September 2022) |

|
|
Students with special reasons may approach course offering departments concerned for course add/drop during 20-23 September and 26 September 2022. |
||
d. |
Regulation on Course Load |
|||
|
|
Students should observe Regulation 5.0 Course Load and Selection in the General Regulations Governing Full-time Undergraduate Studies regarding the prescribed course load of at least 9 units and no more than 18 units of courses to be registered in any academic term within the normative study period, unless there are exceptions as allowed by the Regulations. RES will send e-mail reminders to students concerned if they have course load problem. |

Students may take a look on the videos on RES website for some common questions e.g. application for suspension of studies, grade point average, etc., to learn more about the Regulations and the application procedures involved.
