SOPHIE Course – Safe Obstetric Practice for High risk and Emergency Course

SOPHIE’ stands for Safe Obstetric Practice for High risk & Emergency.

SOPHIE is not simply a training course on practical skills, but it also emphasizes on the wisdom (the meaning of ‘sophie’ in Greek) in applying those skills in real emergent situation, e.g.:

  • Pitfalls in interpreting CTG
  • Does HELPPER mnemonic help?
  • Which is the most suitable maneuver for different scenarios of cord prolapse
  • Tips on improving the success rate and safety of ECV
  • Tips on improving the success rate and safety in vaginal breech delivery
  • Tips on improving the success rate and safety in vaginal twin delivery
  • Why do uterotonic agents work, and how to combine the drugs and mechanical method in controlling PPH?
  • Is timing a critical factor for crash Caesarean?
  • Tips on safe instrumental delivery and second stage Caesarean section
