Biography

Simon Lam is currently Professor at the Department of Paediatrics of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1998 and moved back to Hong Kong in 2000. His research interests are in neonatology, paediatric respiratory medicine and the environmental impact on child health. Recently he has been focusing on the gut microbiome of preterm infants and big data analyses of neonatal outcomes.


He also serves as Assistant Dean in the Education and Academic Affairs team and Warden of the Madam SH Ho Hostel for Medical Students. His roles as Assistant Dean include internship support and liaison work with the Hospital Authority related to clinical attachments. 


He is widely engaged in local and overseas professional societies, contributing to education and accreditation work and quality improvement. Roles include: President of the Hong Kong College of Paediatricians; 2nd Vice President of The Hong Kong Neonatal Society; Member of the Advisory Council and the Data Collection and Operation Committee of the Australian New Zealand Neonatal Network; and accredited instructor in professional simulation-based training courses in neonatology.
