Biography
Dr. Yau is an Associate Consultant at the Department of Paediatrics of Prince of Wales Hospital and an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the Department of Paediatrics of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). After graduating from CUHK, he received his general paediatric training at Prince of Wales Hospital, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. After obtaining the Fellowships of Hong Kong College of Paediatricians and Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Paediatrics), he specialized in paediatric endocrinology with further training in BC Children’s Hospital, Vancouver, and Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. He achieved the Master of Science in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at CUHK. Currently he is the president of Hong Kong Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism and a board member of the Subspecialty Board in Paediatric Endocrinology under Hong Kong College of Paediatricians.
Dr. Yau has taken an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of paediatric endocrinology, as well as public education of diabetes in children and young people. He is a part-time Clinical Lecturer of Hong Kong Institute of Diabetes and Obesity and School of Pharmacy of CUHK. He is also a Medical Advisor of Youth Diabetes Action. He has actively involved in research projects in paediatric endocrinology and diabetes. He is one of the investigators of the Hong Kong Childhood Diabetes Registry.
