General Paediatrics

Clinical Services

Our general paediatric service houses 55 acute emergency beds with more than 4000 admissions every year.

Acute admissions are mainly via the Accident and Emergency Department of the Prince of Wales Hospital, but referrals are accepted from other regional and private hospitals. The three general paediatric teams (A,B,C) accept acute admissions on a three day rotational cycle. We will provide step down care to patients discharged from the paediatric intensive care units until their medical condition are stabilized and discharge plan coordinated between different parties.

For complex cases requiring subspecialty inputs, we actively collaborate with different subspecialties to provide optimized and coordinated care. Psychiatric and adolescent consultation service is available from Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in Tai Po.

Follow up Clinic

Patient requiring long term medical needs will be regularly seen in our general paediatrics clinic for coordinated care between different subspecialties, including their medical needs, growth and nutrition.
