Monochlamydeous flower (simple perianth flower) in cluster of 3, subtended by 3 large bracts and forming large, terminal panicles. Base of the bracts rounded to cordate. Bracts vary in color from red, orange, purple to white. Limb calyx tube ca. 7 mm in diameter, white or pink. Stamens unequal in length, included; filaments united at the base. Stigma feathery, on one side of the style. Never set fruit in Hong Kong and South China. Exotic species.
