https://www.med.cuhk.edu.hk/study/prospective-students/undergraduate-study/programme-and-admission/mbchb-and-gps/admissions/faqM1/M2 per se will not be considered as an Elective subject, but it will contribute to the total admission score if its attained level is higher than that of the worst one of the seven subjects. The calculation will be: (Score of M1/M2 + lowest level obtained in the 7 subjects) ÷ 2.
For candidates who take six subjects (4C+2X), half of the score of M1/M2 will be counted towards the total admission score. The calculation will be: (Score of M1/M2) ÷ 2.
Eligible candidates with the following qualifications are able to apply for course exemptions and an option for direct entry into Year 2 with the Faculty after enrolment.
Qualifications | Minimum Level |
HKDSE | A total score of 44 or above, with 5* or above in English, Biology and Chemistry |
GCE A-Level | A* in 4 subjects (≥95%) and A* in Biology and Chemistry |
IB | A total score of 43-45 with 6 or above in Biology (HL) and Chemistry (HL) and 7 in either one of the subjects. |
10% penalty will be imposed on the total admission score for candidates with more than one sitting of the HKDSE.
If you are a HKDSE applicant, please submit your application via the JUPAS website.
For other applicants*, please submit your application online at CUHK Non-JUPAS (Year 1 Admissions).
*Other applicants include (but not limited to) those who possess the following qualifications:
1 International qualifications:
- GCE AL/International AL or International Baccalaureate Diploma or SAT/ ACT/ AP or other recognised non-local qualifications
2 Post-secondary qualifications^:
- Completed at least one year of undergraduate study at a recognised university or degree holders
^Students with post-secondary qualifications will be considered individually for admissions into Year 2 or above on a case-by-case basis.
All students have to be interviewed before they can receive an admission offer.
Students have to meet the minimum requirements for each subject and for the overall examination before being offered an interview.
Because of intense competition, not all students interviewed will eventually be admitted. Students with better performance in HKDSE results and interview will have a higher chance of receiving an admission offer.
