The School of Pharmacy is dedicated to making safe and cost-effective medicine more available in our society. We accomplish this via integrated teaching, research and entrepreneurial activities in clinical pharmacy, patient care, and pharmaceuticals manufacturing. Recognised for its academic excellence, the School has trained 25% of all pharmacists currently working in Hong Kong and is a key provider of research manpower in the local pharmaceutical, herbal medicine, and health supplement industry.
Our research programmes seek to develop better diagnostic methods for increasing the effectiveness and safety of drugs. We formulate drugs in new ways, such as advances in nanotechnology, to increase their efficiency. We pioneered research in pharmacoeconomics which is integral to the allocation of scarce resources in the development of medicine to save lives and enhance patients’ quality of life.
Equipped with sophisticated technology, our Bioanalytical Unit is accredited by the Hong Kong Government to certify the quality and bioequivalence of drugs manufactured in Hong Kong and imported into Hong Kong.
