• An overview of the hospital environment and other aspects of the healthcare system.

Active learning is encouraged through a variety of instructional methods such as online mini-lectures, short quizzes, interactive activities, group discussions and presentations and video presentations. Students will learn variety of nursing skills such as wound dressing and administering various medications using the latest simulated technology. In addition, students will get to interact with nurses and other members of the healthcare team to learn more about their roles in the healthcare system.

1. Demonstrate the proper techniques in conducting general assessment on patients.
2. Understand the principles of assessment and management of wounds.
3. Understand the indications and management of patients on intravenous cannulation.
4. Discuss the importance of patient safety in the administration of medications.
5. Discuss the role of nurses in the clinical settings.
