Nov 2015 – What next for Hong Kong’s youth?

In this issue of Varsity, we look at some of the issues confronting our generation and how our peers view those issues.

We start off with a look at how Hong Kong’s young people are attempting to move forward in the aftermath of last year’s Occupy Movement. Given the current political stalemate, some have become more radical, some have given up on social participation, and some are trying to seek a more conciliatory path by setting up youth-specific think tanks.

We all need to think about making a living and finding work, regardless of the political situation. With the wide range of freelance, part-time and entrepreneurial opportunities now available, it seems young people have been been freer to pursue their ideal jobs. But is this really the case? We look at the changing nature of work in our times.

Our families can be a source of security and comfort or of frustration and discord, maybe even at the same time. Varsity asks young people for their views on family and finds fewer of them want to get married and have children.
