Biography

Zheng LI obtained his PhD degree in CUHK, Master degree and Bachelor degree in Beihang University. He is currently an Assistant Professor in department of Surgery and an associated member of Chow Yuk Ho Technology Centre for Innovative Medicine, department of biomedical engineering and T Stone Robotics Institute of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is also an adjunct associate professor of Monash University, Australia. Previously, he worked as a research assistant professor in the institute of digestive disease and as a research fellow in National University of Singapore. He is a senior member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), member of ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers), and member of RAS (Robotics and Automation Engineering). Zheng served as the editor of BioRob 2020 and associate editor of RA-L (Robotics and Automation Letters), associate editor of ICRA (International Conference on Robotics and Automation), IROS (International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems), etc. He served as the reviewer of over 30 peer reviewed journals/conferences.

Zheng's current research mainly focuses on the topic of innovative medical robots/devices, including intelligent flexible surgical robot for minimally invasive surgery, soft medical robots for gastrointestinal tract inspection, soft medical robots for rehabilitation, magnetic anchored and guided system for VATS, semi-autonomous robots for stereotactic brain biopsy, etc. His research is well supported by the Hong Kong Research Grant Council and Innovative Technology Fund, etc. His research work yield over 10 patents/copyright, 1 edited book and was published in over 100 peer reviewed journals/conferences/book chapters, including both leading engineering journals e.g. IJRR, SORO, TMech, TNNLS, TIE, Engineering, Frontiers in bioengineering and biotechnology, MMT, RA-L, etc. and top clinical journals, e.g., Surgical Endoscopy, Endoscopy. His work was recognized by receiving the conference paper award of CCECE 2015, best paper finalist of Robio 2012, CCECE 2015, best poster finalist of ICRA 2017, Silver of 2019 International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, Gold of 2019 Emedic global, Silver and Technical Challenge Award of 2018 Emedic Global, Champion of 2017 PCKKSCA, Gold of 2017 JEC Outstanding engineering project award, Gold of 2016 HKEIA Innovation & Technology Project Competition Award, Most Innovative Design Award of 2016 Emedic Global, etc.
