Biography

Dr NG Chi Fai, Anthony is Professor of Division of Urology, Department of Surgery. He has research interests in stone diseases and prostate diseases. He has more than 200 peer-reviewed publications and nearly twenty book chapters written over the years.  Besides his effort in basic and clinical research, he is also devoted to improve the care of his patients and urology care in Hong Kong and the region.

He has led his team to revolutionise the diagnostic approach and management of prostate cancer in the territory. His research has supported the use of new diagnostic test, Prostate Health Index, in Hong Kong and also Asia to improve the diagnostic yield of prostate biopsy and minimise complications. He is also one of the pioneers in robotic surgery for prostate cancer, which greatly improve the quality of life for these patients. He has performed the first robotic prostatectomy by the new da Vinci SP® system in Asia. He is also leading the robotic training program in our institutes.

He has extensive collaborations with local institutes and also other regional and worldwide centres to facilitate research and care improvement.

Together with the paediatric surgery colleagues, he established the Youth Urological Treatment Centre which provide one-stop service for patients with urological complications secondary to substance abuse. This is the first of the kind to provide wholistic care for these patients.

Prof Ng is also keen in professional training and knowledge transfer. He has founded Asian Urological Surgery Training and Educational Group (AUSTEG) to lead regional training to young urologists in Asia.

He and his team was honoured with Merit team in Outstanding staff and Teams Award 2019 by Hospital Authority.
