About Annals of GIS (Formely Geographic Information Sciences)

Published twice a year, Geographic Information Sciences (ISSN 1082-4006), is the official journal of The Association of Chinese Professionals in Geographic Information Systems (Abroad) (CPGIS). Responsibility for the contents rests upon the authors and not upon CPGIS or its members. All members of CPGIS will receive this journal upon payment of the annual membership fee. The cost for each volume is $100 for institution subscriber (including postage) and $20 for personal subscriber (including postage).

Copyright of all text materials from Geographic Information Sciences belongs to CPGIS. Abstracts and brief quotations maybe made if reference is credited to Geographic Information Sciences. Instruction to Contributors

  1. Scope

    The journal will publish original research on the theory, methods, development and applications of geographic information systems, remote sensing, global positioning systems, and cartography. Brief papers on hardware and software design and associated codes are welcome. GIS-related news, highlight articles and commercial advertisements will also be published.

  2. Language

    English only.

  3. Manuscript Format

    Use American Letter Sized or A4 white papers. Manuscripts must be double spaced and should normally not exceed 5000 words per manuscript in length. An abstract is limited in less than 150 words. Submission in digital form is welcome. List figure captions on a separate page and put figure number and author(s)' name(s) on the back of the figures. Color illustrations may be published with a charge to the author(s) depending on fund availability of CPGIS. SI units must be used. Citation of references in the text can be made either by a number index such as [2] or by using the author(s) followed by a number index, e.g., Chen and Wang[2]. A reference should include items in the following order: Number Index, Author Name, Year of Publication, Title of Article or Book, Journal Name or Book Publisher, Volume, Issue, Starting and Ending Pages.

  4. Manuscript Submission

  5. Review, Proofs and Offprints

    Technical papers will be submitted to referees whose names will be kept confidential. The editors reserve the right on whether a paper should be accepted. Once a paper is accepted, proofs will be sent to the correspnding author for checking. 25 offprints will be sent to the corresponding author when the paper is published.
