With a generous donation from The Yuen Yuen Institute, The Yuen Yuen Research Centre for Satellite Remote Sensing was established in March 2004. Its mission is to be a Centre-of-Excellence committed to the promotion of remote sensing researches and applications to maximize the benefits to the society from new and emerging remote sensing technologies.
The research fields of the centre concern theoretical and methodological research, remote sensing of agriculture, natural resource management, coastal and marine environment, emergency response and natural disaster monitoring and mitigation, human health and environmental researches in Hong Kong and the South China region.
The centre continues to promote scientific academic and information exchanges with government agencies, universities and other organizations worldwide.
