About the Speakers
Jaeho Kang is Associate Professor in Critical Theory and Cultural Studies in the Department of Communication at Seoul National University. Kang is the author of Walter Benjamin and the Media: The Spectacle of Modernity (Cambridge: Polity Press, 2014). His work focuses on critical and social theory of media with particular reference to the intersections of digital screen, media spectacle, and urban space.
Lim Song Hwee is Professor in the Department of Cultural and Religious Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is the author of Celluloid Comrades: Representations of Male Homosexuality in Contemporary Chinese Cinemas (2006) and Tsai Ming-liang and a Cinema of Slowness (2014). He is also co-editor of Remapping World Cinema: Identity, Culture and Politics in Film (2006) and The Chinese Cinema Book (2011), and founding editor of the Journal of Chinese Cinemas. He is currently working on the manuscript of his third single-authored monograph, Taiwan New Cinema as Soft Power: Authorship, Transnationality, Historiography.
