Notice for Hostel Allocation 2022 - 2023 (I)

09/06/2022

In the meeting of Hostel Allocation Examination Group under the Committee on Student Hostels held on 8 June 2022, the Committee approved the list of successful applicants (current students) for the coming academic year (please refer to the attachment for details). A total of 1,147 applications have been received from current students. The benchmark scores for successful application are 38 and 40 for male and female residents respectively. Applicants should note the following:

(1)   The benchmark scores consider applicants’ residential situation and extra-curricular activities. The load of schoolwork is not a selection criterion. Unsuccessful applicants who wish to appeal should do so in writing and submit the application to the Dean of Students’ Office on or before June 24, 2022. Applicants should detail with supporting documents their rounds for appeal (e.g. health or family problems) for the consideration of the Committee on Student Hostels.

(2)   Those successful applicants who would like to decline the hostel place offer should inform the College on or before June 24, 2022, so that the captioned hostel place could be allocated to other students on the waiting list.

(3)   Applicants who have not been allocated a place will be waitlisted according to their scores and allocated a place should hostel places become available because of decline of offer or withdrawal from hostel.

(4)   Trading hostel place for benefits (e.g. monetary rewards) is prohibited. All parties to the trade will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee.

(5)   In In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the following measures will be in place until further notice:

a)  Non-residents who wish to stay with “Overnight Visitor Ticket” will not be entertained;

b)  “Room Share Scheme” will temporarily be suspended;

c) Visitors (including those New Asia students who are not residential students of that particular hostel) will not be allowed;

d) All persons entering the hostels are expected to undergo body temperature screening arranged by hostel staff, otherwise they will be forbidden to enter the hostels.

e)  Under the COVID-19 pandemic, as gathering of large number of people should be avoided, this College will implement a special room allocation exercise this year.  Details of the room allocation and hostel admission will be announced via email at a later stage.
