The 8th S.H. Ho College Graduation Ceremony
The 88th Congregation (Conferment of Bachelor’s Degrees)-cum-The 8th S.H. Ho College Graduation Ceremony was held at Ho Sing Hang Hall on 19 November, 2020. Owing to the infection risks of COVID-19, the University decided that the ceremony was moved online to safeguard the health and safety of the University members, graduates, as well as their parents and friends.
Prof. Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, presided at the ceremony. 15 members of the College attended the ceremony to share the moments of pride of the 156 graduates, with 44 of them receiving First Class Honours, 75 Second Class Honours and 6 Third Class Honours. The remaining 31 MBChB graduates also performed well under a different assessment scheme.
In the message to Class 2020 graduates, Prof. Wong Wing Shing, College Master, encouraged graduates to stay positive in face of the rapid-changing environment. Uncertainties may come from the pandemic, state of globalization, employment and other concerns. These uncertainties may make people feel uncomfortable but they are also the drive that pushes us out of our comfort zone and urge us to change the way we think and act. We may learn to prepare for the worst-case scenarios and devise alternative plans for them.
At the end of the ceremony, Mr. Wong Tsz Wai, recipient of S.H. Ho Eminent Award 2020 gave the Valedictorian speech. He thanked Dr. Tzu-leung Ho, Prof. Wong Wing Shing, every member and every staff member for their generosity, hard work and devotion to build up a beautiful home at the College. Life is not plain sailing but he is grateful for meeting friends with kindred spirits at the College to cross the finishing line all through ups and downs. Besides, he thanked parents for their support all along on behalf of all the fellow graduates. The completion of the university journey and dressing in graduation gowns are the best gifts they could offer to their parents as a token of thanks.
