Student Representatives Bid Adieu to Master Wong
Prof. Wong Wing Shing, College Master, will retire on 1 August, 2022. Student representatives held a farewell party for Prof. Wong on 24 June at Connexion, the College’s staff common room. The representatives came from Student Union Representative Council, Lee Quo Wei Hall Resident Council, Ho Tim Hall Resident Council, International Student Association, and Mainland students. They presented thoughtful gifts, including flower bouquets, cute figurine, handmade wallet, tasty cookies, farewell cards to Master Wong, and thanked him for his leadership and dedication to the College over the past four years.
After the gift presentations, Master Wong and the student representatives planted a tree on the College’s lawn. They planted a golden trumpet tree near the sculpture of home. Originating from South America, the golden trumpet tree blooms yellow clusters in spring, grows into a brushy tree in summer and autumn, and finally falls in winter. Its changing appearance throughout the year signifies an active attitude, and gives its flower message: be thankful and show gratitude. The tree symbolises Master Wong’s love and care for the College which will keep nourishing our home in the days ahead.
