As announced by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) on 31 August, Ho Sin-tung and Lai Kwan-ting, Fine Arts graduates in 2008, have won the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Awards 2012, one of the largest open art competitions in Hong Kong presented by the LCSD and organized by the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Ho’s winning installation is entitled Hong Kong Inter-vivos Film Festival, and Lai’s winning Chinese painting was named Car Compartment. Lai was conferred a Master of Fine Arts degree by the University in 2011. Another winner, Chui Pui-chee, a 2003 graduate, won the Young Artists Award with his Chinese calligraphy work Wyman Wong’s Lyrics ‘TourBillion’ in Running Script. Fourteen winning works were selected from more than 1,900 entries this year. They will be presented at an exhibition to be held at the Hong Kong Museum of Art next year together with other 83 selected works.
