Co-organized by T. T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre, Institute of Chinese Studies and the Chinese Language Teaching Development Centre of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, the Forum on University Chinese in the Four Year Curriculum was held on 25 April. It began with welcoming speeches by Prof. Hau Kit-tai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ho Che-wah, chairman of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, and was concluded by Prof. Tang Sze-wing, director of T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre.
The new four-year undergraduate curriculum has been launched since 2012, under which local tertiary institutions provide a mandatory university Chinese programme for all students in order to enhance their language ability. At the forum, representatives from local universities presented updated progress of the implementation of the Chinese language programme and shared their precious teaching and learning experience.
