Mrs. Eva Lo Retires as Warden of Lee Quo Wei Hall Dr. Lawrence Chiu Appointed as the New Warden
Mrs. Eva Lo has joined S.H. Ho College since May 2011. She had taken up the role of warden of Lee Quo Wei Hall from then on and her wardenship ended in June 2017. Her successor, Dr. Lawrence Chiu, will keep on providing guidance and care to residents as a warden.
S.H. Ho College implements the policy of “full residence and communal dining”. As hostels are home to students at CUHK, it is important for the wardens to be in charge of hostel management. They lead the resident tutors to offer students non-structural education through hall life.
An amiable warden can help students get relaxed, build up a harmonious relationship with people around and embark on a fruitful resident life. For many residents at Lee Quo Wei Hall, Mrs. Lo is a friendly and approachable teacher. They said Eva would talk to them whenever they came across her in the lift. She also played host to residents, prepared meals, exchanged views on life and got along well with them.
The College bid a farewell to Mrs. Lo during communal dinner on 19 April. Students played photo slides and videos, performed guitar solo on Make You Feel My Love, and presented a special card to show their deep gratitude to her.
Dr. Lawrence Chiu succeeded Mrs. Lo as warden of Lee Quo Wei Hall since June 2017. Dr. Chiu, who is Senior Lecture at School of Life Sciences and also the Dean of College General Education, agreed that hall life is an integral part of university life. He encouraged students to treasure and enjoy their hostel life at the College.
