The CUHK Centre for Public Health and Primary Care (Shenzhen), an outreach institution of the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care, has been set up at the CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute (SZRI) to strengthen the school’s research, education and knowledge transfer in public health and primary care on the mainland.
The opening ceremony of the centre took place on 25 February at the SZRI and was officiated by Prof. Tang Jinling (3rd right), acting director of the Jockey Club School of Public and Primary Care and director of the Centre for Public Health and Primary Care (Shenzhen), Prof. Lee Shiu-hung (2nd right), Emeritus Professor of Community Medicine, and Prof. Liang Bin (1st right), executive vice-president of Shenzhen Research Institute, CUHK; Dr. Zhang Dan (1st left), deputy director of Health, Population and Family Planning Commission of Shenzhen Municipality; Dr. Zhang Zuowen (2nd left), director of Department of Preventive Medicine of the National Natural Science Foundation of China; Prof. Li Liming (3rd left), Executive Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.
A Symposium on Collaboration and Opportunities in Public Health in the Pearl Delta Region and a meeting for previewing the school’s 2013 applications for the Natural Science Foundation of China was also organized. The event was attended by over 60 guests, including renowned public health experts, deans of prestigious schools of public health, senior officers of the Shenzhen Health Bureau and the Shenzhen Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as faculty members and student representatives from the school.
