A Postcard from Cambridge
2018年10月29日
Recent Morningside graduate and recipient of the Edwin S H Leong Hughes Hall Scholarship Joseph HS Zhao is currently completing an MPhil in Planning, Growth and Regeneration at The University of Cambridge. Joseph sent the following greeting and accompanying photos (including the cover photo with the donor Dr. Edwin Leong) and hopes they will encourage other Morningsiders to consider pursing postgraduate studies at Cambridge—
“I really enjoy the academic and cultural atmosphere here at Cambridge. I especially value the college system since I have already benefited so much from my unforgettable 4 years at Morningside College. I wish that I could have 48 hours per day as the working rhythm is rather intensive and there are so many seminars, concerts, talks and activities happening simultaneously.
As a Land Economy MPhil student concentrating on urban planning, growth and regeneration, I plan to work on the city planner's role and power in shaping urban space, drawing on a comparative perspective between London and Hong Kong. I am considering continuing my study as a PhD student as it is the first step to becoming a future urbanist. I deeply believe a better city life needs good practices as well as theoretical innovation in the approaching new era of globalized urbanisation.”
