The 1st session of A Walk in Community with I·CARE of this academic year will be held this month to shed light on the residents and neighbourhood of Pok Fu Lam Village. Located on the southern part of Hong Kong Island, Pok Fu Lam Village is a squatter area with more than 200 years of history. In this activity, members of the Pokfulam Village Cultural Landscape Conservation Group* (who are also inhabitants of Pok Fu Lam Village) will serve as tour guides to show to the participants how the village culture, customs and historical construction are preserved. Participants will also be given chances to understand the lives of the villagers in terms of their cohesion and empowerment. Details are as follows:

* The Pokfulam Village Cultural Landscape Conservation Group was established in 2009 to promote conservation of culture and landscape of Pok Fu Lam Village and the places nearby. Besides writing regional records and sharing research findings, the group advocated declaring the former site of Dairy Farm as a monument by the government. They lead tours regularly for public education as well.
