The IMS and the Mathematics Department are sponsoring a special programme on "Fractals and Harmonic Analysis" from September 1999 to December 2000. The workshop is intended to highlight this activity by bringing the interested researchers together to discuss the current development.  It is also an outgrowth of the series "Symposium on Analysis and Probability" which has been held two times in Taiwan bi-annually. This time the concentration is on fractals, the scope includes the iterated function systems, dynamical systems, hyperbolicity, random fractals, Brownian motion and stable processes, multifractals, Ruelle operators, ergodic theory, Laplacian on fractals.

Accommodation

For those we have already arranged accommodation, you do not need to do anything.  For the others, you have to contact the Royal Park Hotel directly for room reservation.  The Hotel offers special rate at HK$680 per room daily to participants of this workshop (the rate is subjected to 10% service charge and 3% government tax).  The Royal Park Hotel is located in the town center of Shatin, adjacent to the Shatin railway station and right next to a large shopping mall.  It takes about 10 minutes to CUHK campus by train.
