About JCSPHPC

The School

Whilst public health is concerned with populations – be they global, national and local community, primary care focuses on individuals and their families.

Established in 2001, The Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care (JCSPHPC) was formerly the School of Public Health (SPH). It was merged with the Department of Community and Family Medicine in 2009 to form the current School. JCSPHPC is one of the five schools within the Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

JCSPHPC is the first and only institution in Hong Kong that provides a platform for the integration of public health, primary care and family medicine teaching and research. We provide training and research in evidence-based promotion of population health, health protection, and health services management as well as training and research in primary care and family medicine. Students gain expertise across the many facets of public health such as occupational and environmental health, social and health behaviours, emerging infectious diseases, health services and policy, global health and primary care and family medicine through a wide offering of study programmes.

JCSPHPC is committed to advancing the development of public health and primary care, with the mission to improve health of the population locally and internationally. We take pride in our excellence in research, teaching, and collaborative work with an extensive network of partners.
