Stay Alert and Use Encryption to Protect Confidential Data

In order to prevent data leakage, colleagues should take extra precautions when handling personal or sensitive data.

Some useful practices that may help to avoid human errors and cause data leakage :

File Protection Use encryption or password to protect files in order to prevent accidental dispatching and disclosure of sensitive or confidential data.

    1. Use Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) to encrypt all MS Office or non-MS Office documents.
    2. Use Windows BitLocker to encrypt files on your computer and USB devices.
    3. Use Password Protection on MS Office documents.
    4. Use Password Protection on PDF Documents.
    5. Use WinZip to encrypt data (WinZip can be download here).
Email Protection Protect email with Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) by applying the ‘Confidential’ or ‘Strictly Confidential’ label, or setting special permissions, and protect email attachments with above file protection methods.
Operation Practices For essential emails that involve personal or sensitive data, please consider deploying “four-eyes” principle.
