The Department of Information Engineering (IE) is looking for strong candidates in the related areas to telecommunication systems, internet engineering, software development, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics or cyber-security.

Applicants should have (i) a relevant PhD degree; (ii) strong commitment to excellence in teaching; (iii) strong Internet Programming background; (iv) experience in leading engineering projects; and (v) at least four years' relevant teaching experience in universities.

Duties include (a) teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses; (b) supervising final year project students; (c) serving as an academic advisor to students; and (d) committee work and other administrative duties as assigned.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one or two years commencing August 2022, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement.

The Department of Information Engineering (IE) has multiple tenure track faculty openings at the level of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor. In particular, we are looking for strong candidates in the systems area which covers the design and implementation of networking/ distributed systems, cloud, fog and edge-computing, Internet of Things, platforms/ infrastructure for big data analytics and large-scale machine learning. We are also eagerly seeking new faculty in the areas of AI, machine learning, deep learning, and data science. Outstanding candidates in other areas of information engineering who complement/ supplement our existing strength in communication systems and information theory will also be considered. Assistant Computer Officer - (220001RO)

The Department of Information Engineering (IE) is looking for an Assistant Computer Officer to support the IT services in the Department. Duties include (a) maintaining and developing in-house web applications for office automation and teaching support; (b) designing and maintaining laboratory setup for teaching support; (c) managing network equipment for IT infrastructure and facilities support; and (d) providing technical support to staff and students.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree in Information Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines; (ii) at least 2 years’ hands-on experience in web programming and website design (e.g. WordPress, Drupal, PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, Python, MySQL and Oracle); (iii) knowledge of Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Team and Form); (iv) knowledge of networking (Cisco Routing & Switching); (v) self-motivation, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a team member; and (vi) good communication and interpersonal skills, especially with end-users. Possession of a CCNA certificate will be an advantage. Fresh graduates with solid related experience will also be considered.

Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.


Technician / Probationary Technician - (2200021N)

The Department of Information Engineering (IE) is looking for a competent candidate to work in the Hardware Technical Team, responsible for (a) preparing equipment, materials and documents for the laboratory courses; (b) guiding and giving instructions to the students in operating the equipment during laboratory sessions (shift work is required during normal laboratory sessions); (c) purchasing equipment, components and hardware materials for the laboratory; (d) managing the laboratory and taking care of equipment in good condition including routine check-up, maintenance and repair; (e) designing tools and teaching kits for the courses; and (f) participating in activities held by the Department.

Applicants should (i) have a Diploma/Certificate in Electronic or Information Engineering or equivalent plus 3 years’ relevant experience in the field of electronics or communications or a Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate in Electronic or Information Engineering or equivalent (for Technician); OR a Diploma/Certificate in Electronic or Information Engineering or equivalent (for Probationary Technician); and (ii) be familiar with Analog, Digital and communication circuit design, microprocessor STM32, ESP32 and others, C and assembly language programming. Knowledge in computer networking and IOT is preferred.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for 1 year, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
