Contemporary life continues to pose a multitude of new ethical questions, dilemmas and uncertainties, many of which turn out to be symptoms of attempts to reconcile conflicting frameworks of value. Living amidst these challenging developments has made it more imperative than ever for communities and individuals to become reflective about the values they live by. The mission of the RCHV is to promote reflectiveness about human values through research, public discussion and teaching focused on values and value-conflicts as they present themselves in contemporary lives and across our contemporary academic disciplines. The RCHV at CUHK will build on Hong Kong's unique location at the meeting place of East and West to promote distinctively cross-cultural and intercultural perspectives on issues of ethics and human values.
