Ian Grenville Cross GBS, QC, SC served as the Director of Public Prosecutions of Hong Kong, China, from 1997 to 2009, and as the Deputy DPP from 1990 to 1997. He is the Vice-Chairman (Senate) of the International Association of Prosecutors, and chairs its Standing Committee on Prosecutors in Difficulty. He is a barrister-at-law, and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1990, becoming Senior Counsel in 1997. He is Visiting Professor of Law, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Honorary Professor of Law, University of Hong Kong, Adjunct Professor of Law, China University of Political Science & Law, Beijing, and Visiting Professor of Law, Zhongnan University of Economics & Law, Wuhan. He is Sentencing Editor of Hong Kong Cases and of Archbold Hong Kong, and co-author of Sentencing in Hong Kong. In 2010, he was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star, for his services to the law, and, in 2021, he was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star, for his services to the community.
