Mr. Lee received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. (by research) degrees in Computer
Science from University of Manchester in 1976 and 1977. Then he joined
Burroughs machines (Cumbernauld, Scotland) and was involved in various
processor design projects which include the Burroughs' machines' B80 and
B90 ranges of computer. When he was with Burroughs' machines, he had
invented a reconfigurable memory system. In 1979, he joined International
Computers Limited (Manchester, U.K.) and had worked on a number of
mainframe computer design projects. He had designed the floating point
unit for the 3930 computer. He was also involved in a number of VLSI
technology study projects. Pilot chips were designed, built and tested to
evaluate the suitability of various technologies. One of the studies was
to design a three chip set CPU for the 3900 family.
He joined Chinese University in 1984 and is responsible for the
hardware and computer architecture courses. His current interests are
computer architecture, Parallel Computing, Object Oriented Software,
Multi-media applications and Chinese Computing. Between 1987 and 1990, he
has successfully built a high performance workstation for the Hong Kong
Industry Department for CAD/CAM applications. He has just completed the
construction of a multi-processor workstation and is now working on the
software system and a parallel language for this multi-processor.
