The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is looking for strong candidates to make significant contributions to teaching in the related areas to computer science, computer engineering, information science, artificial intelligence, machine learning or data analytics.

 

Applicants should have (i) a Master's degree, preferably a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline; (ii) at least ten-year experience in undergraduate teaching; (iii) strong commitment to excellence in teaching; (iv) experience in curriculum development and/or contributions to innovative pedagogy; and (v) readiness to take up leadership role.

 

Duties include (a) teaching undergraduate foundation courses in computer science and related fields; (b) supervising student projects; (c) managing curriculum development and conducting quality assurance exercises for a university core programme in digital literacy; (d) co-leading a team of lecturers, teaching assistants and supporting staff; and (e) committee work and other administrative duties as assigned.

 

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years commencing from July or August 2022, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is looking for an Assistant Computer Officer who will contribute to a university core programme in digital literacy. Duties include (a) planning and developing web-based teaching and learning systems according to teachers’ requirements; (b) managing computing equipment and IT facilities; (c) preparing and enforcing adequate IT policies; (d) leading and supervising a team of computer technicians; and (e) performing committee work and other administrative tasks as assigned.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree, preferably postgraduate degree, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Engineering, Information Technology or related disciplines; (ii) at least 4 years’ experience in system development and/or system administration; (iii) good communication and interpersonal skills; (iv) supervisory experience; and (v) the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as a team member. Experience with container and cluster management would be an advantage.

The appointee will contribute to a university core programme in digital literacy under the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Duties include (a) co-ordinating the implementation of the University’s core programme in digital literacy; (b) providing administrative support to programmes, including but not limited to admission, course and teaching evaluation; (c) undertaking general liaison with external parties; (d) handling student enquiries; (e) processing procurement, staff reimbursement, and human resources matters; (f) overseeing financial matters and monitoring budget; and (g) performing other tasks as assigned.

The Department is looking for an Assistant Computer Officer to work on the development of an AI-based platform (including back-end system and front-end applications), which involves system design, deep learning and data analysis. He/She will be responsible for (a) designing and developing the backend system according to the practical requirements; (b) implementing the extended features for further data analysis; and (c) monitoring the project progress and reporting the progress to other teammates. 

 

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines; (ii) good experience in web backend development with Python / Node.JS; (iii) experience in mobile app development (full-stack); (iv) self-motivation, and good analytical and problem-solving skills; and (v) the ability to communicate effectively with other teammates. Knowledge of deep learning is an advantage.

As a member of the technical team, the appointee will be responsible for (a) setting up and managing the IT infrastructure and systems to fulfil the teaching and research requirements of the Department; (b) setting up and administering servers, GPU/HPC computing cluster, network equipment and firewall; (c) developing and maintaining various types of applications, e.g. postgraduate admission and information databases; (d) providing technical support to staff and students; and (e) undertaking other tasks as assigned.

 

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplines; (ii) at least 4 years’ relevant post-qualification experience; (iii) knowledge of or experience in GPU/HPC/CUDA environment and Slurm job scheduler; (iv) experience in SQL programming and writing software in script languages, such as PHP, Python and JavaScript; (v) a proven track record in IT/web application development and programming; (vi) hands-on experience in setting up, customising and maintaining Linux servers; (vii) the ability to operate on Linux command line environment and shell scripts; (viii) hands-on experience in VM and container technologies, such as VMware ESXi and Docker; (ix) knowledge of TCP/IP networking; (x) hands-on experience in installation and administration of network equipment, such as network switch, VPN server and firewall; and (xi) good analytical, problem-solving, organisational and communication skills.
