With respect to the fire incident which happened at the construction site of CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC) on 18 June 2019, based on the investigation conducted by the Fire Services Department (FSD), the fire broke out at the L7 electrical room and later on spread to L11, and the cause of the fire was classified by FSD as “undetermined”. The fire mainly affected the electrical installations. Demolition of damaged works was fully completed. The Main Contractor China State has been coordinating with suppliers and sub-contractors on the re-ordering of materials and re-installation works. The project completion will be extended by 2.5 months till mid-May 2020 due to the lengthened process caused by the re-ordering of materials and re-installation works. CUHKMC is expected to commence operation in the latter half of 2020.
