College Teaching Staff
Prof. GU Shen Linda (顧燊) obtained her bachelor’s degree with full scholarship at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CHUK) and received her Ph.D. degree from the School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS) at CUHK. She then pursued postdoc training at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in the United States. Subsequently, she was selected into the highly competitive American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomic (ABMGG) fellowship program at BCM. Graduating from the three-year fellowship training, she was certified in both clinical molecular genetics and cytogenetics by ABMGG. In late 2019, she returned to SBS as an independent investigator. Her lab is interested in exploring the causes and clinical consequences of genetic diseases. She has published over 30 papers in high impact (>1,100 citations, h-index 19, i10-index 25 by Dec 2020). She received several international awards, including the 13th International Congress of Human Genetics Travel Award, finalist and semi-finalist of ASHG / Charles J. Epstein Trainee Award for Excellence in Human Genetics Research, and three times Outstanding Research Award from the Association of Chinese Geneticists in America. A native of Hong Kong, Vincent Chi Kwan Cheung is an assistant professor at the School of Biomedical Sciences of CUHK’s Faculty of Medicine. He obtained his bachelor degree in Mathematics and Pharmacology
& Therapeutics (minor in Arts) from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Subsequently, he received his Ph. D. in Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering from MIT and the Harvard Medical
School, and then postdoc training at the MIT McGovern Institute for Brain Research. Vincent’s research has focused on understanding how the brain and spinal cord control and learn voluntary movement.
He is also interested in translating basic knowledge of motor control into new rehabilitation strategies for stroke survivors. His papers have appeared in many journals including PNAS, Journal of

 Prof. TEOH Jeremy Yuen-Chun
Dr Jeremy Teoh graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 2009 and he joined the Department of Surgery, Prince of Wales Hospital afterwards. He has held fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the College of Surgeons of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His main research interests include early prostate cancer detection, androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer and transurethral en bloc resection for bladder cancer. He is also serving as the Deputy General Secretary of the Asian Andrology Association, a standing committee of the Asian Andrology Association, a member of the Diagnosis and Treatment Guidelines Writing Committee of the Asian Andrology Association, and a committee member of the Young Urologists Section of the Hong Kong Urological Association. Professor Li (黎冠峰) received his BA and MSci in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge (2009), and his PhD in Physics from the Dutch National Institute for Subatomic Physics (2013). Prior to joining The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2015, he spent two years at the California Institute of Technology as a Rubicon Postdoctoral Fellow. Professor Li's research interests are in gravitational-wave physics, and he was involved in the breakthrough detection of gravitational waves by the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO). His awards include the 2016 Gruber Prize in Cosmology, the 2016 Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, and the 2013 Stefano Braccini Thesis Prize.
