This course is designed to enable students to have an in-depth understanding of the theories and practice models of community-based family service. Students will be introduced to basic concepts, intervention strategies and techniques that are currently employed in local community-based family services. Practical skills in interfacing both formal and informal service network with government departments, community organizations, schools, clientele groups and volunteers will be addressed. Emphasis will be placed on the design of services, need assessment, cross-organizational intervention strategies, developing social support network and prevention of family problems through community education.
