Event Introduction
Since 1983, one to two outstanding persons in the fields of scholarship or cultural affairs are invited to visit the College during teaching terms, under the Siu Lien Ling Wong Visiting Fellows Programme. The Visiting Fellows are invited to give public lectures, to participate in discussion panels, and to be the main speakers in the College Annual Education Conference. In addition, they are also invited to have informal discussions with staff and students of the College. This year, we are honoured to have invited Professor Chan Hue Sun, Professor, Departments of Biochemistry, and of Molecular Genetics, University of Toronto, Canada, to be the Siu Lien Ling Wong Visiting Fellow 2016/17.

Professor Chan Hue Sun (2nd right, front row) visited the College together with his wife Ms. Amy Wu (1st right, front row). A welcoming dinner was hosted by the College Head Professor Fong Wing Ping on their arrival.   Professor Chan met College members in the Welcoming Reception cum Staff¬ Social Luncheon Gathering, and delivered a speech on “Scientific Citizens”.   Professor Chan visited the Divinity School of Chung Chi College and delivered a talk on the topic “Science and Religious Imagination”.   In the College Assembly, Professor Chan spoke on “A Random Walk in Science and History”, sharing with Chung Chi students the history of Chinese and Western calendar.  
Professor Chan was also invited to give a presentation in the Annual Education Conference on the topic “What is Life? An Interdisciplinary Dialogue”.    Professor Chan had an exchange with the Chung Chi Student Union.    Professor Chan visited Ming Hua Tang and spoke on the topic “Intellectual Adventures at the Interface of Physics and Biology – A Scientific Journey” in the Tolo Nocturne.    Recommended reads related to the theme of the Annual Education Conference 2016/17 were displayed at the Chung Chi Library and the University Bookstore.
