General Qualifications for Admission

1.	Hold the following degree or academic qualification: graduated with a bachelor’s (honours) degree in English or a related field (such as linguistics, literature and translation) from a recognized university, normally with honours not lower than Second Class; or graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English or a related field (such as linguistics, literature and translation) from a recognized university, normally achieving an average grade not lower than “B”; or completed a course of study in a tertiary educational institution and obtained a qualification equivalent to an honours degree.
2.	Pass an entrance examination or interview conducted by the Graduate Division of Education, where required;
3.	Fulfil the English language requirements for admission: Applicants with a relevant degree from a university in Hong Kong should fulfil the “English Language Requirements for Admission” as stipulated by the Graduate School. Applicants with a relevant degree from a university outside Hong Kong should meet one of the following requirements: A minimum overall score of 7.0 in IELTS with the writing score not lower than 7.0; OR A minimum score of 94 in TOEFL (Internet-based) with the writing score not lower than 27. Remarks: TOEFL and IELTS scores are considered valid for two years from the test date. GMAT scores are considered valid for five years from the test date.
