Led by Prof. Chan Wai-yee and Prof. Woody W.Y. Chan, Director and Associate Director (Graduate Education) of the School of Biomedical Sciences, a delegation comprising Prof. Kenneth K.H. Lee, Prof. Wan Chao, Prof. Xia Yin, Prof. Zhao Hui, Dr. Florence Tang, as well as 15 postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows joined the Postgraduate Research Symposium on Regenerative Medicine 2013 held at Jinan University, Guangzhou on 15 and 16 November 2013.
The Symposium was jointly organized by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Key Laboratory for Regenerative Medicine, and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Synergistic Innovation Center for Tissue Repair and Regeneration, with the support of the MOE, Jinan University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It aimed at promoting academic exchanges among postgraduate students from different institutions who pursued their studies in various fields of regenerative medicine. This was the first time that the postgraduate students from our School took part in this event.
During the Symposium, Prof. Chan Wai-yee was invited to deliver a keynote lecture to all the participants and 12 of our students participated in poster presentations, with 2 of them invited to give oral presentation on their research topics for competing prizes with other students from the MOE Key Laboratory for Regenerative Medicine, Jinan Univeristy, The University of Hong Kong, Baptist University of Hong Kong, University of Macau, and Sun Yat-sen University and so on. With their exceptional performance, 4 of our students won prizes for their outstanding presentations and research work (Prize-winners for oral presentation: Ms. Wan Lin & Ms. Liu Wenjing; Prize-winners for poster presentation: Ms. Sun Xiaoyun & Ms. Li Lu).
In a parallel Symposium on "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Cooperation on Science, Education, Cultural Exchange and Joint Laboratory Development" organized by Jinan University, Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Prof. Kenneth Lee and Prof. Wan Chao were invited to share their insights for further collaborations.
As a matter of fact, our School has been in close connection and interaction with Jinan University since our inception in mid 2009 through the common platform of the MOE Key Laboratory (see our previous exchange activities HERE). The participation in the above Symposium not only consolidated further our academic bondage with Jinan University but also helped broadening our students' national view.
