Project Co-ordinator II  (220001HA)

The School of Architecture at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is a world-class, research-led and professionally connected learning environment. We embrace innovative approaches to architectural education and cross-disciplinary research that impact on society and the profession. We are now seeking an outstanding Project Co-ordinator II to support the School’s administration.

The appointee will be responsible for (a) providing support on financial management and purchasing; (b) providing support on personnel matters including appointment, recruitment and on-board preparation; (c) performing data and information management; (d) handling course evaluations; (e) providing secretarial support to the School Director; and (f) performing other tasks as assigned by the Director.

Applicants should have

(i) a Bachelor’s degree;
(ii) at least 3 years’ post-qualification experience at tertiary institutions;
(iii) an overall Grade D or above in Use of English in HKALE or Grade C/Level 3 or above in English Language in HKCEE/HKDSE, plus Grade D/Level 3 or above in both Mathematics and Chinese in HKCEE/HKDSE (proof of academic results from GCSE, AL, SAT, IELTS or TOEFL will also be considered);
(iv) good interpersonal and communication skills, and an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
(v) excellent and accurate data and information management skills;
(vi) proficiency in computer applications, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Chinese word-processing;
(vii) good experience in handling finance and budgeting;
(viii) a strong sense of responsibility;
(ix) a positive attitude and team spirit to work along with other colleagues;
(x) a diligent, mature, self-motivated and well-organised work attitude; and
(xi) independence and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Experience in accounting and bookkeeping will be advantageous. Applicants must submit a curriculum vitae and copies of certificates showing that they have fulfilled the subject requirements and academic qualifications stated above, otherwise their applications may NOT be considered.

Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.

It embraces new approaches to architectural education and cross-disciplinary research that impact on the society and profession.

The School is seeking outstanding candidates to make significant contributions to teaching, to both diversify its portfolio and support its existing strengths in professional architectural education. The appointees will deliver teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, while contributing to the administration and development of the School.  Applicants should have (i) a Master degree or above in architecture, and those with only a Master degree should additionally possess post-qualification practical experience in architecture  of minimum 4 years (if with professional registration) or minimum 6 years (if without professional registration); (ii) an excellent track record of studio teaching; and (iii) experience in teaching architecture history and theory courses will be a plus.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years commencing January 2023, renewable subject to performance and mutual agreement.

The School is seeking outstanding candidates to make significant contributions to research and teaching, to both diversify its portfolio and support its existing strengths in professional architectural and urban design education and scholarship.

The appointees will drive forward a research agenda and deliver teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, while building research collaborations within the University and beyond. They will be key players in the School’s agenda on architecture, cities and environments.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Architecture or Urbanism. A distinguished record of research and an excellent track record of studio teaching are essential. Applicants with international recognition in practice will be highly appreciated. Preference will be given to candidates with research record in the following areas:

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially commencing July / August 2022, which, subject to performance, funding availability and mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later.  Outstanding candidates for full Professor rank may be specially considered for substantive appointment forthwith.
